when I read this ad I just had to contact the guy to check out his gig! We had a talk and this just might work. We both seem to be in the same space and he's not going until Fall 2008. So I'll be able to volunteer in Kenya till Dec and then work for 8 months to save to head out. In the meantime I'll keep in touch with him and if it doesn't pan out then oh well! There are other Adventures and Journeys in life!
CA to Costa Rica by Road - Traveling Companions 08/22
I need easy going traveling companions to drive from San Francisco/LA/San Diego to Costa Rica
Need but not required at least one fluent Spanish speaking compadre!
Split the gas costs/border fees
Bring your gear: surf boards, camping gear, etc (we have room for stuff but not your while life)
Vehicle: Diesel full size pickup truck
Me: Dave Kimball, 35 professional from San Francisco & Cody, 6 yr old Yellow Lab
Story: I am driving to Costa Rica (over 2-3 months to enjoy the journey) to take a one month CELTA teaching certificate class, then teach in Costa Rica for 1-2 years. I am bring clothing/small portable office/3-4 tubs of stuff/camping gear...maybe a sea kayak. I am easy going and have traveled extensively thoughout the world by plane. This is my first road trip and have researched the hell out of it. I am a planner..but flexible. The two prevous times I have been to Costa Rica I rented an enduro motorcycle (without a MC license) and discovered the country..taste of my adventure threshold.
I would love to get male/female around my age...though I love my share of tequila I am not rolling like a 24 yr old any more.
I see us camping on the beaches of Baja...enjoying the sun and surf hitting the local beach villages. I have a rough idea of the route I want to go, but am very open to alternative routes to see something good.
I am a photographer and videographer so, you'll get your share of air time and a DVD at the end to show for it!
I am open to taking you as far or as long as you want to go with us as long as I have someone with us till Nicaragua. I plan to spend most my journey in Mexico.
TIME I need to wrap up my business in San Francisco and save money. I won't be taking this journey until Fall of 2008. That gives you time to save some cash and for us to correspond a little before we leave.
Feel Free to e-mail me or call me

About Me
- Free Spirit Guy
- Email: freespiritguy@gmail.com Enjoy adventure, outdoors, travelling & meeting people but mostly life. My background is in computer software allowing me to work in Australia, New Zealand, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Canada & recently in the US. Enjoyed & found it challenging but at a crossroad as need to upgrade my IT skill set to continue my career. But would like to expand my life's experiences. So rather than upgrade in IT, I'll maybe work part time & take a course like Forensic Science or something. Also do more travelling & volunteering. I've helped at the Salvation Army, ran in several Cancer runs & coached disabled people to ski. Feels good to make a difference in someone's life. Made me appreciate having my health, mind, family, friends & ability to accomplish almost anything. Found people volunteering are friendly, helpful, kind & not pretentious. Searching for an organization to experience the challenge of volunteering where people have difficulty improving their life due to their environment & resources.
